Annoyance vs Abuse on Social Media- Our TweetChat
On Thurday 24th November, Centre for Social Research, in collaboration with Twitter India, carried out a TweetChat with the hashtag #TweeSurfing, entitled “Annoyance Vs. Abuse on Social Media”
We had a panel consisting of esteemed and diverse personalities for this TweetChat- Harish Iyer (noted equal rights activist), Dhruv Arora (digital communications manager at Centre for Policy Research), Ruchita Shah (Founder of First Moms Club, an online community) and Amitabh Kumar (Head of Media and Communications at CSR).
We had a very interesting discussion, on the issue of cyber etiquette, the fine line between abuse and annoyance on social media, and how online harassment can be curbed.
Our tweetchat was very well recieved- have a look at these statistics!
This is in tune with our campaign #SochKeBol #सोचकेबोल for #16DaysofActivism, which aims to generate awareness regarding online safety and counterspeech, and curbing online abuse and hate speech. Do join in our competition regarding the same, and spread the word on online safety!
