Centre for Social Research had the privilege of Hosting a delegation from Sweden, the four member team led by Dr Maja Fjaestad state secretary, Mr Daniel Wolven Minister counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Mr Markus Holknekt First secretary (Political Affairs) and Mr Juan-Pablo Rao, Chief of Communications, Office of Strategic Development, Prime Minister’s Office.
The delegation first visited the crisis mediation center in Chattarpur: CSR has five such center’s across Delhi NCR region. These are safe spaces for women that are approached in situations of crisis. CMC’s also act as counseling centers for women facing domestic violence. Survivors get both psychological and legal counseling.
The Swedish delegation had a firsthand experience of our ‘ Parivartan Mahila Swawlamban Samiti ‘ meeting, in which community women were being informed about the various legal provisions provided to prevent Gender based violence.
Dr Fjaestad was extremely interested in the sort of help received by the women at the center and also the reason to visit the center. Rekha dubey the senior counselor at the center explained its functioning and also extended an invitation to the Swedish delegation to revisit the CMC.
The delegation then came to our head office in Vasant Kunj, to continue the discussion with our director Dr Ranjana Kumari and team CSR. It was an extremely positive and informative meeting, we will be taking our mission for women’s empowerment forward in collaboration.
