Social Media can, at best, be labeled, as a double edged sword. On one hand, users run the risk of violation of personal security, and misuse of information. One the other, it enables and empowers users by providing access to information and people, which would otherwise not be possible, or difficult to obtain.
In recent times, social media has been responsible for spearheading and snowballing various movements and campaigns across the world. Whether in terms of creating awareness about an issue, mass mobilization for a cause or connecting to celebrities and political leaders, social media platforms have been instrumental in solving certain problems, and getting relevant people informed about certain situations.
In this regard, today, we, along with some eminent personalities, have decided to initiate a TweetChat entitled “Social Media for Social Solutions”. Organised jointly by Twitter India and Centre for Social Research, this tweetchat is initiated to get substantial recommendations on how social media platforms can be effectively used to channelise the energies towards social change. Also, we would be discussing the impact of innovative tools like crowd sourcing and social media campaigning.
Our panel consists of eminent personalities- Mahima Kaul (Head of Public Policy at Twitter India), Tamseel Hussain, Malvika Iyer (motivational speaker) and SheSaysIndia. Do join us between 8:00 to 8:30 pm IST today, for a engaging discussion on Social Media Solutions.
