Gender Sensitization of Paramedics and Police

Ms Kamlesh Premi, the counsellor at our Vasant Kunj Crisis Mediation Center talks on the importance of gender sensitization trainings for police and paramedics.

The reason we work with police and paramedics is that every time there are crimes against women, the first point of contact is police or hospitals. Thus it is very important that these people are aware of how to deal with the victims/survivors, that is why gender sensitization programs are important, so that the victims/survivors get ample support. Also in cases of domestic violence, many times information is hidden. Thus it is important to help paramedics understand how they can behave so as to extract maximum information from the victim/survivor, because they are the first people who come into contact with these cases
