In Talks With Indian Government on Welfare Schemes #App

On 24 July 2015 a delegation of CSR visited the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) to discuss a partnership between the Ministry and CSR for the further development of the welfare schemes app project #SoSec. Our delegation included Dr. Ranjana Kumari (Director), Amitabh Kumar (Head of Media and Communication Division), Arnika Singh (Project Coordinator) and Kim van Kastel (Media Intern).

At the meeting, Dr. Preeti Sudan (Additional Secretary, MWCD), V. Somasundaran (Secretary of the MWCD, Government of India), Dr. Rajesh Kumar, (Joint Secretary of the MWCD, Government of India).

The meeting functioned to inform the Ministry on the specifics on the #SoSec mobile phone app. This app, which was released in July 2015, currently provides all the information on social welfare for women and girls. The interaction with the Ministry representatives led to the input of many eloquent ideas by the representatives of the Ministry. One of the suggestions was to get the app translated into various Indian languages. Another was to expand the coverage of the app to the State of Haryana, where CSR already is appointed as the nodal agency implementing the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme in five districts.

Overall, the Ministry representatives were highly enthusiastic about our #SoSec intiative. A follow-up meeting on the project is already planned for next week. Next to this, a meeting has been scheduled with representatives of the Delhi Government on the same matter.

We look forward to partnering with the different Governmental institutions in order to increase the impact and outreach of our welfare schemes app project.
