Tata Power-DDL distributes electricity in North & North West parts of Delhi and it has a dedicated CSR Department to organize social welfare activities for community of JJ clusters of North & North west Delhi. Women from these JJ clusters are provided with adult literacy programs under which TPDDL wants to incorporate a SHG Program.
In this regard, Centre for Social Research facilitated a training cum capacity building program on Self Help Groups to the women of JJ clusters where TPDDL operates. The training was conducted on 29th September 2014 with 30 women at the TPDDL Office, Gulabi Bagh Auditoium, Shastri Nagar. The training structure was designed to provide participants with the tools to form and nurture Self-Help Groups, as well as the skills to explain other group members and office bearers the concepts, processes and procedures of group functioning.
The nine sessions training was participative and interactive in nature. It made use of case studies, stories, role plays and discussions. The objective was to explain the concept of Self-Help and the principles of group functioning
Ms. Mehak Jhingon, CSR trainer, highlights: The training was conducted with women belonging to disadvantaged section of society who had no resources to explore their development options and their potential income generating self-employment opportunities. We all agreed the training was an overall success as the participants felt empowered with the idea of forming Self Help Groups which will further enable them to lead a better life.
