BCCI Women ‏May 15 RECORD: India openers Deepti Sharma & Poonam Raut become the 1st pair to share a 300-run stand in ODIs. They made 320 against Ireland Women.

#WomenInSports has been really encouraged as a tool to empower women holistically. The confidence that sports infuses in women is incredible and it is easy to explain what true freedom is if women get involved in any sports.
On the other hand, the need is to celebrate the victories and titles that the women players are bringing home. The record by Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut, deserves much more attention and celebration that it is receiving now.
Women have been doing really well in sports in India and the authorities really need to break the gender bias that exists in the facilities provided to the sportspersons and ‘sports’. The victory that the women is bringing to the nation must be taken further in a way that more girls anticipate sports as their future.
