With support from HBS, India, CSR organized a 2-day “Dialogue on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” on 18th and 19th February 2016, at Kurukshetra University, Haryana. The main objective of the dialogue was to record best practices, develop recommendations to address challenges, deepen program impact, and support government activities in relation to the implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in Haryana. The participants were key stakeholders of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Jhajjar & Mahendragarh in the implementation of B3P. There were about 100 participants including 45/50 key stakeholders of 5 districts.
CSR has more than a decade long experience of implementing projects and programmes on the issue of pre-natal sex selection in Delhi & Haryana, two of the most skewed sex ratio states in India, employing novel and innovative strategies not only to spread social awareness, but also, conducting medical audits and policy advocacy at the governmental level. CSR has implemented the project in five districts namely Ambala, Kurukshetra, Gurgaon, Jhajjar & Mahendragarh of Haryana as a nodal agency of Ministry of Women & Child Development (MWCD), Government of India.
The dialogue was an extremely enriching experience for CSR as well as all the stakeholders involved. We hope that the information shared during the course of these two days are put into action, and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program achieves great heights. It is only when this happens will our society truly move towards being gender just.
